Her Take: Pleasant Nature Walks at Plitvice Lakes National Park

Plitvice Lakes National Park is rated as one of the top 10 places to see before you die by Cool Hunting, so naturally Kyle and I figured it would be a good idea to trek out and see this natural wonder. My opinion is not as strong as Kyle’s on this matter, but I wouldn’t say this day trip was worth the six hour bus ride. If Plitvice is on the way to your destination, it makes a great stopover, but if you’re working your way down the coast like we were, keep going until you reach Krka National Park. Visitors are allowed to swim there, and you can still snap a few shots of cascading waterfalls.

However, this opinion is coming from a spoiled Western Canadian who is constantly surrounded by natural beauty on a daily basis. Plitvice Lakes National Park was pretty, but compared to Lake Louise it was not worth the trek. Most Europeans will be thoroughly impressed with the clear water and pleasant nature walk, but if you are one of these people just make sure you visit here before seeing some of the sights Alberta and British Columbia have to offer.

For those on a tighter schedule, my recommendation is to stick to the coast of Croatia, spend a few days in Split and take a day trip out to Krka. You will save time and also have a spot to jump in and cool off in the hot summer months.
