Toronto is a massive city with so many restaurants it’s impossible to run out of choices. However, as much as I love food, going out to restaurants more than once a week isn’t exactly a smart financial decision. To stay sane and fit in this city, Kyle and I go to Joe Rockhead’s indoor climbing gym. It provides a great alternative to the treadmill, and is the perfect activity to do as a couple since belaying requires two people.

To climb here you’ll have to take an intro class for $35, but once this is done and paid for each month only costs $56 including tax. It tends to get quite busy during the evenings on weekdays, so be prepared to climb with a large mix of people, from experts to beginners. Although it can be daunting at first, the people are friendly and always willing to offer up a few tips.
I would recommend Joe Rockhead’s for those who love the outdoors, but aren’t prepared to run and climb during the minus degree weather Toronto receives during the winter. For the price, this is a great alternative form of exercise and one that’s ideal for the more adventurous couple.
